  • A local animal shelter and charity are frustrated after a social media hack disrupted their funding—officials said they are working to secure accounts and investigate the breach.  WSB-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • A new Pew study shows that 38% of Georgians are highly religious and 49% say religion is very important in their lives. The study ranks Georgia tied for 10th among the nation’s most religious states—confirming strong faith among local residents.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Sept. 15, one Roswell resident asked city officials to lower the tax rate from 4.949 mills to a rollback rate of 4.658 mills because higher property values cause higher bills—Mayor Kurt Wilson and CFO Bill Godshall said the city will hold a final public hearing on Sept. 22 at City Hall to talk about lowering residential property taxes.  Appen Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Braves took a 5-0 win when Chris Sale struck out nine and allowed three hits over eight innings and Matt Olson hit a bases-loaded triple in the 10th inning to secure the victory—handing the Nationals their 90th loss of the season. Ronald Acuña Jr.—making a leaping catch at the wall to end the ninth—forced extra innings that set the stage for the Braves’ sweep of the doubleheader.  WSB-TV
