EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three Georgia high school seniors were named to the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program for academic excellence and leadership. The winners include Creighton Matthew Hudkins from Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell and two others—Nethra Vani Pai from Northview High School in Johns Creek and Duc Duy Vo from Discovery High School in Lawrenceville—recognizing some of the top students in the state.  FOX 5 Atlanta

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A University of Georgia study found that coyotes in the metro area rebound faster than they can be removed—removal efforts costing up to $50,000 have led to only short-term declines in numbers. Researchers analyzed nearly 20 years of data and discovered more than one coyote per square mile, making current control methods unsustainable.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fulton County is preparing for National Customer Service Week from October 6 to October 10—an event that will include pop-ups, trivia games, and an invitation-only luncheon to honor outstanding service professionals. County Manager Dick Anderson said the celebration will recognize the hard work of those who serve citizens.  Fulton County
  • Fulton County District 1 Commissioner Bridget Thorne will host a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, October 21 at 6 p.m. at the Ocee Library and Dr. Robert E. Fulton building in Johns Creek—residents can ask questions and get updates on seniors legislation, tax bills, elections, Operation Green Light and youth commissioners.  Fulton County
