CRIME NEWS

  • Roswell police, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations seized over $750,000 of methamphetamines during a joint operation that began on Aug 2 when an 8‐kilogram package from Mexico was intercepted for delivery to an apartment at 290 Old Holcomb Bridge Way in the Villas Del Mirasol Apartments—authorities later arrested two suspects and found additional drugs, ledgers, and cash after a controlled delivery on Aug 7.  Appen Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Festival of the Painted Rock will return August 30 at Chattahoochee Nature Center with live music, food, art installations and activities including a butterfly encounter running from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Roswell Arts Fund celebrating its 10th anniversary — and Chattahoochee Nature Center marking its 50th anniversary.  Appen Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fulton County commissioners will vote at 10 a.m. today on a plan from Chairman Robb Pitts for a $1.1 billion facility that will have 3,200 beds for mental and medical care and fix Rice Street jail as the county ends its use of the Atlanta City Detention Center in 2026 — the plan aims to address jail concerns noted in a federal order.  Appen Media

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dollar General is recalling three lots of Clover Valley Instant Coffee sold from July 9 to 21, 2025 after a customer reported potential glass pieces in 8 ounce packages—best by December 2026—in stores including those in Georgia. Customers are advised to discard the coffee and contact the company for a full refund while investigations continue.  WSB-TV

  • Falcons rookie Jalon Walker, who once worked at Chick-fil-A in Salisbury thanks to his father’s connection—before rising as a football star, is now sidelined with a groin injury after missing the final week of training camp.
