ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Georgia Power says its customers are facing higher electric bills as record heat and recent rate hikes have pushed costs up by about $43 monthly, with July bills reaching around $266 on average. The company will freeze base rates through 2027—while offering programs like the EASE Program to help households cut energy use and costs. FOX 5 Atlanta
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fulton County will launch a free online training program called A.C.T. for seniors on Tuesday, August 19 to help them spot online scams and protect personal information. The self-paced course is for residents aged 55 and older and awards a certificate upon completion — officials say it is a key step to reducing fraud losses. Fulton County
- ➤ The Fulton County Board of Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. on August 20th at the Government Center Assembly Hall (141 Pryor Street NW in Atlanta) to get updates from the County Manager, Public Works, Information Technology, and Finance and to plan a new building and jail renovations for vulnerable populations.
