- ➤ Former Roswell City Council members Nancy Diamond and Steve Dorvee appeared on The Georgia Politics Podcast to discuss a letter delivered to City Hall on August 6 by 21 former elected officials who demanded greater transparency and accountability regarding tree removals at the historic Mimosa Hall and Gardens site — they warned that the letter signaled deep concerns over budgeting and land-use decisions ahead of fall elections. - ➤ Fulton County District 4 Commissioner Mo Ivory was appointed in August to five National Association of Counties committees—covering arts and culture, healthy counties, international economic development, urban county issues and public safety—to represent Fulton County nationally. She will work with other county leaders to secure resources and share local priorities. Fulton County
- ➤ Fulton County officials held a virtual hearing on Aug. 7 to discuss a proposal for a 5 percent increase to water and sewer rates over the next two years. The rate increase is needed to fund a revised Capital Improvement Program and upgrades at Camp Creek Water Reclamation Facility and may add about 50 cents to monthly customer bills if approved on Aug. 20 to take effect Jan. 1, 2026. - ➤ Fulton County approved a pilot program that will last for six months and reimburse childcare costs for up to 100 county employees, with reimbursements available retroactively from July 1 and continuing through December — officials will review the program's success before considering a permanent benefit. - ➤ At its Aug. 11 meeting at City Hall, the Roswell City Council considered a resolution to adopt the 2025 Annual Action plan for a Community Development Block Grant of $400,668. City staff said the grant—meant to cover repayment of a $2 million HUD Section 108 loan—will be used to redevelop Pelfrey Pines Apartments for low to moderate-income residents, with the plan set to be submitted on Aug. 14.
