ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Georgia officials announced that the state's squirrel hunting season will begin Aug.15 for both gray and fox squirrels with a daily limit of 12 squirrels—officials note that some areas enforce stricter rules for fox squirrels. The season will run until Feb.28,2026—hunters are advised to review local regulations before heading out. WSB-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fulton County Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman (from District 6) was appointed to two NACo committees—the Arts and Culture Innovation Council and the Large Urban County Caucus. She will work with national officials to promote the arts and support urban county issues while representing Fulton County on a broader stage. Fulton County
- ➤ Today, city leaders in Roswell broke ground on a new $20 million parking deck to ease downtown parking problems. The project will add 395 spaces and convert the historic Masonic Lodge into an open-air pavilion — work is set to be completed by summer 2026. WSB-TV
- ➤ Fulton County Board of Commissioners will issue a formal proclamation on August 20 to honor AFCEMA’s 75 years of service in emergency management and public safety.
