GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City Council committees are moving forward with developing Edwin and Nelda Spruill Park by combining 24 acres on Hardscrabble Road, bought for $7.5 million, with 25 acres along Chaffin Road; the funding is being arranged through bids from 58 banks with a final City Council vote set for Aug. 11 and the purchase closing by Sept. 29. City staff are also negotiating a stadium and awarding a contract for gym repairs to fix water intrusion issues in the Bill Johnson Community Activity Center, with the renovation expected to be done by Oct. 20 — projects that aim to improve local facilities. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Fulton County received over $37 million in federal funding to fight HIV, including $5,119,509 from the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative and $32,339,493 from Ryan White Part A and Minority AIDS Initiative grants — a modest increase from last year.
