Good morning, Roswell.
🚨 Crime
Con artists posing as IRS agents have repeatedly sent official-looking letters to active-duty military families in metro Atlanta demanding nearly $2,000 to avoid property loss, and authorities urge families to verify claims with trusted agencies since the IRS confirmed no tax is owed.
🏛️ Government
Yesterday at 7 p.m. the Roswell City Council met at City Hall to appoint members to the Comprehensive Growth Plan 2045 Stakeholder Committee—this group will include two council members, four community members and one representative from the Development Authorities.
The council also reviewed a second reading to amend the Unified Development Code for the Hill Street overlay and considered additional appointments and a new development finance program.
📰 Real Estate
Residents gathered yesterday at Louise Watley Library to hear Fulton County officials explain that the newly tentatively adopted 2025 millage rate will raise property taxes by 12.49% and offered guidance on appealing assessments and applying for homestead exemptions — many left still questioning how the extra revenue will be used. Officials promised continued support for homeowners seeking further answers.
