ECONOMY NEWS

  • Roswell resident Courtney Rozear asked about housing affordability after the Economy Hotel closed on Old Dogwood Road. A 2022 United for ALICE study shows that an average family of four in Fulton County needs $107,508 a year — compared to Butts County's $77,856—with local data showing Roswell has 5% of households below poverty level and 31% classified as ALICE.  Appen Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Roswell residents gathered on July 17 to protest the ongoing construction at Mimosa Hall and Gardens, saying city officials ignored their call to protect historic features. They collected over 850 signatures and demanded a stop work order — especially after discovering that key elements like stone garden steps were demolished — to prompt a thorough review of the project.  Appen Media
  • The Roswell Fire Department will celebrate the addition of two new fire engines on July 26 with a push-in ceremony—Engine 22 will be welcomed at Fire Station 22 (1111 Crabapple Road) at 10 a.m. while Engine 26 will be honored at Fire Station 26 (825 Cox Road) at 1 p.m.  Appen Media
  • Fulton County has amended its HOME-ARP Allocation Plan to shift funds from Non-Congregate Shelter and Rental Housing Development to Supportive Services — the proposal is on public display online and at the Department of Community Development for comment from today until August 7 at 4 p.m. — Commissioners will decide on the amendment at a meeting on August 20 at 10 a.m.  Fulton County
