ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Roswell police warned residents not to swim near the popular waterfall—on Vickery Creek—after a man drowned Thursday when a bystander helped an officer pull him out.  WSB-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Roswell police arrested a former funeral home director—accused of felonies—after an investigation, and he remains in custody pending further review.  WSB-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • At its June 18 meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved $1.3 million in funding for the Department of Arts and Culture’s FY2025 Contract for Services program to support 159 nonprofit groups, art organizations, and individual artists delivering community arts events across the county in 2025+the awards range from $1,000 to $16,000 with applications for the next cycle opening in November.  Fulton County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that overnight lane closures will begin Sunday, July 20 on SR 400 for the Express Lanes project, with one-lane and shoulder closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Friday, July 25 — drivers should expect delays along the road between MARTA’s North Springs Station and one mile north of McFarland Parkway.  FOX 5 Atlanta

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Smyrna-based ice cream maker recalled three paleta popsicle flavors sold through mobile dessert carts and convenience stores in Atlanta on July 18 after routine tests detected potential Listeria contamination on coconut and cookies and cream popsicles dated June 17th and a coffee flavor dated June 11th—no illnesses have been reported.  FOX 5 Atlanta
