- ➤ The Roswell Police Department will host a memorial 5K on Aug. 23 at Riverside Park 575 Riverside Road — the event starts at 8 a.m. — to honor fallen Officer Jeremy Labonte, who was killed on Feb. 7 while responding to a suspicious person report off Holcomb Bridge Road; organizers hope to raise $10,000 through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. - ➤ Roswell police distributed water & issued warnings after reports emerged that money was stolen from water boys, urging residents to secure their belongings. WSB-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fulton County approved $1.3 million in arts funding to support 159 organizations and individual artists in underserved communities. The awards—granted at a June 18 meeting—will fund local concerts, exhibitions, and arts classes throughout this year—with grants ranging from $1,000 to $16,000 per award. FOX 5 Atlanta
- ➤ The Roswell Committees of Council tentatively approved on July 15 letting Fulton County handle the Nov. 4 election and a possible Dec. 2 runoff, with advance voting at the Roswell Library from Oct. 14 to Oct. 31 and an extra site at East Roswell Library. The City Council also tentatively approved awarding Webb Construction up to $2.2 million to build a 10,500‑square‑foot Police Permanent Evidence Facility at the new Public Safety Headquarters, with final decisions set for July 28.
