  • Roswell residents expressed concern after 35 trees were removed at Mimosa Hall and Gardens as part of the Founders Park Project—designed to create a stormwater basin, ADA pathway, and replant native trees. Local activists circulated a petition that gathered over 725 signatures to protect a historic black walnut which may be removed—urging the city to adjust its plans and safeguard the area’s heritage.  Appen Media

  • Carmen Utley became the owner of Cloak and Draugr Tattoo on South Atlanta St. in December after her daughter Brianna inspired her to shift from a 28-year mortgage career to body art. The studio—originally opened in June 2017—features eight artists who deliver a classy and welcoming tattoo experience despite challenges with local acceptance.  Appen Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Roswell City Council approved new short-term rental rules that took effect June 9, requiring owners to register, pass fire inspections, and have a local agent for emergencies. The city will begin enforcement at the end of January 2026 (the measures aim to balance hosting with neighborhood safety).  WSB-TV
  • Some Georgians have received a special tax refund in bank deposits labeled 'GASTTAXRFD' this week. The refund, offered as $250 for singles +$375 for heads of household +$500 for married couples filing jointly after filing 2023 and 2024 returns, will finish being distributed in six to eight weeks by direct deposit or check.  WSB-TV
  • Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger launched the Georgia Businesses Against Trafficking initiative on Monday to offer training and tools for businesses, nonprofits, and associations to fight human trafficking—an effort that includes collaboration and awareness campaigns—designed to strengthen local responses.  WSB-TV
