- ➤ Two women in Fulton County Jail filed a lawsuit last Friday against the state over a law that took effect in July and now requires cash bail for 30 more offenses, including 18 crimes that are often misdemeanors. The lawsuit alleges the law violates constitutional rights by preventing judges from deciding if bail is needed—civil rights groups argue it harms low-income defendants and increases jail overcrowding.
