- ➤ More than 500 bikers gathered on April 27 at Roswell City Hall lot on Hill Street to kick off the 23rd Bike Roswell! Mayor’s Ride. The event offered three ride routes — an 18-mile challenge, a 42-mile workout, and a 60-mile metric century tour — and included a free 4-mile ride for participants aged 8 and up, with all funds supporting local bicycle advocacy through Bike Roswell!. - ➤ About 140 players competed at the second annual Play for Good tournament at the North Park Tennis & Pickleball Center on April 26 and 27, raising $15,000 for North Fulton County Community Charities which provides emergency rent assistance & food pantries for locals. Appen Media

- ➤ Roswell City Council signed a scopes of work agreement with the Downtown Development Authority to begin a Hill Street land exchange that will allow Atlantic Companies to develop 80,000 square feet of commercial space, up to 143 apartments, 16 townhomes and a 300-space parking deck once council approves closing on Oct. 15. The council also approved a resolution for a second tranche of $93.4 million general obligation bonds to fund public projects + a paid-parking ordinance limiting fees to $5 per hour, with bond sales set to start on June 23 and close on July 15. - ➤ Refugee advocates in metro Atlanta say the federal government will end temporary protections for Afghan refugees whose status expires May 20, putting over 2,000 people at risk of deportation after fleeing following the U.S. withdrawal, while officials argue that Afghanistan’s improving economy & security justify the decision.
