GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The North Fulton Emergency Medical Response Oversight Committee held its first meeting on April 3 at Milton City Hall with Sandy Springs joining the group along with Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton and Roswell—its aim is to improve emergency services and control costs—and will meet again at Roswell City Hall at 10 a.m. on July 8.  Appen Media
  • Georgia lawmakers pushed to pass key bills as the General Assembly wrapped up its session on Sine Die on April 4; they returned early Thursday to move legislation through both chambers for Gov. Brian Kemp’s signature before the midnight deadline—one measure protecting religious freedom cleared major hurdles while other controversial bills remained pending.  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • The City of Roswell approved a $14.5 million design-build contract with Winter Construction for a 395-space parking deck at the corner of Green Street and Highway 9 in its historic downtown—funded by a $179.6 million bond package—and it will be completed by summer 2026 as part of a new plan to improve downtown connectivity.  FOX 5 Atlanta
  • At the April 2 meeting, Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts said about 800 jobs remain open in several county departments — staff have begun tracking which positions have stayed vacant longer than a year. County HR reported that only eight full-time general fund jobs have had no hiring activity over the past year — officials are examining slow hiring and low pay as factors.  Appen Media
