- ➤ On March 31, the Georgia General Assembly passed Senate Bill 1—known as the Riley Gaines Act of 2025—that bans biological males from playing in women's sports to maintain fairness for female athletes. - ➤ Georgia lawmakers passed House Bill 123 on March 31 that eases the rules for proving intellectual disability in death penalty cases — the bill lowers the standard from beyond a reasonable doubt to a preponderance of evidence. It sets a 60-day deadline for defendants to submit evidence and a 30-day window for prosecutors to share discovery as the bill heads to Governor Kemp’s desk. FOX 5 Atlanta
