- ➤ Brood XIV periodical cicadas, last seen in 2008, will emerge from underground across Georgia once soil temperatures reach 64°F—likely occurring by mid-May to late June. Experts say the insects are harmless and that the holes they create help improve moisture drainage for trees. WSB-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Georgia Poison Center said that warmer weather is making venomous snakes more active and bites could need anti-venom treatment. They urged anyone bitten to go to a hospital right away—avoiding tourniquets and self-medication. WSB-TV
