COMMUNITY NEWS

  • North Fulton Community Charities will open its first satellite food pantry Tuesday, Mar. 11 on the campus of Bridge to Grace Church in east Roswell. A ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. will launch service for up to 100 families a week, offering shelf-stable food and fresh produce.  Appen Media

CULTURE NEWS

  • Roswell community members and preservation experts are cataloging wood pieces from Doc's Café, the city's first Black-owned restaurant from the 1950s, to create a memorial that honors its legacy. Historians and architects are using modern technology to deconstruct and preserve the historic site for a future project.  FOX 5 Atlanta

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Georgia Power said that if two filings are approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission, customers could see a 1% drop in their bill saving roughly $1.32 per month starting in June. The filings cover fuel cost recovery & service restoration expenses.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Roswell’s Committees of Council advanced two interior improvement contracts at the Crabapple Center on Feb. 10 to support recreation programs; discussion for a flooring contract is scheduled for Feb. 24. The renovations, part of a $4 million project, will create dedicated spaces for dance, music, theater, and band rehearsals.  Appen Media
  • Parking is now free at Southern Post along Ga. 9 near Canton Street, offering 600 spaces+ a Feb. 8 announcement stated guests no longer need validations as the city reviews its parking policies.  Appen Media

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Roswell’s new Chambray boutique hotel broke ground Feb. 11 in the Historic District near Southern Post at GA 9 and Fraser Street. The project is expected to create 350 construction jobs and will feature a rooftop sushi restaurant, fitness center, and Mediterranean-inspired dining spaces, financed through the city's RDFP program.  Appen Media
