About this event

Other Paths to God by Kelundra Smith, and directed by Alexis Kulani Woodard, is a new, homegrown play inspired by interviews with nurses in Atlanta. In this juicy, new dramedy, for five ICU nurses at an Atlanta hospital, their craziest day at work is about to get even crazier.

Charge nurse Renee (Tonia Jackson (she/her)) has just returned from leave under secretive circumstances. Her right-hand, Coleen (Amer-Marie Woods (she/her)), is a breath away from divorce after a salacious affair. Nurse Rel (Trevor Rayshay Perry (they/them)) and Kai (Kenedi Deal (she/her)) are trying to stay out of the drama, while also tending to their favorite patient, Mrs. Shorter (Cheryl Booker (she/her)) -- especially since Rel wants to adopt a baby and Kai is digging herself out of debt after being left at the altar. And, supervisor Amy (Ariszia Staton (she/her)) is doing her best to keep the lid on an impending scandal and maintain peace at home. However, when money goes missing at the hospital, and fingers point in their direction, everyone’s on their worst and most outrageous behavior.

This wild ride through the lives of five resilient healthcare workers is funny, poignant, and just the right amount of scandalous, while revealing that the path to healing and redemption is never a straight line. Other Paths to God will be onstage at Horizon Theatre, 1083 Austin Avenue NE, located inside the Little Five Points Community Center. Previews are Oct. 8-15 and the show officially opens on Oct. 16.
